I followed the instructions for 1Password4 upgrade, including the Chrome extension but now I can't log onto 1Password at all and I can't access anything online, including my entire business.

If I click on the Chrome extension and enter my password, it says "Connecting:" and then just runs a counter "1,2,3,4,5,...." and so on for as long as I sit there. This is killing me. Please help!

Let me update this. I can log onto the 1Password app, but the Chrome extension isn't working and I can't log into anything online using Google Chrome.

Not only can't I get the Chrome extension to work, but now I perpetually get a reminder that 1Password is not backing up. I have never seen this before.

    Hi @jdouglasj,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulties getting the 1Password extension to work. It sounds to me like you might still have a version 3 extension. Please see this guide to Uninstall 1Password 3 Browser Extensions and then download the 1Password 4 browser extension here.

To get rid of that backup message please restart 1Password Mini: http://learn.agilebits.com/1Password4/Mac/en/KB/restart-mini.html

I hope that gets you all sorted out, but if you have any further issues, we're here to help!

  • Hi @jdouglasj,

    1. Please open the main 1Password app, go to the Help Menu > Troubleshooting > Restart 1Password mini. This will fix the backup issues.
    2. Open Chrome, go to the Window Menu > Extensions. Click on the trash icon next to your 1Password 3 extension.
    3. If on the extensions page, you don't see the 1Password 4 extension, please go to the Chrome Web Store page here to install 1Password 4 extension.
    4. After installing the extension, restart Chrome, and 1Password should start working.
