Anytime I copy a generated password from the browser extension, a entry is added into 1P called "No active app".

Why?

Ok, that thread helps explain it.....but I'm puzzled as to why it's needed?

Why do I have to clean up passwords that were simply copied? I opened 1P today and there were 12 of these entries dating back at least since 1P was updated. What's their purpose since they don't show anything other than the password itself?

    Hi @netnothing,

Right now 1Password creates an entry for every generated password to be sure that none get lost. In the event that 1Password doesn't automatically ask you to update or create a Login entry, and you don't remember to update the entry yourself, this generated password will still be there, so you're not locked out of your account. We are looking into ways to tidy things up a bit though, once we know that a generated password has been safely stored inside an existing login, for example.

I hope this helps to answer your question, but if you need any more clarification, we're here to help!

  • Hi @netnothing,

Please read my post here to see why. We're recording what you copied for those Just in Case situations where you might lose track of it. It's better to be safe than sorry. It's easy to clean up afterward, as you can see in that post.
