Updated to 4 using the app store instead of the website this time. My problem is where does the file 1Password.agilekeychain go?
Thanks.

Are you going to sync with Dropbox ? If so it would need to go in your Dropbox folder. Most put it in a folder called "1Password" inside the Dropbox folder.

What kind of syncing are you using if any ? Or what kind do you plan on using ?

not with Dropbox. I tried iCloud and Wi-Fi syncing.

The default paths for the data file in 1Password 4 are…

    Mac App Store version:

    ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/Data

    Website version:

    ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/

But you should be able to simply double-click 1Password.agilekeychain to import it automatically.

Please let me know if you're still having trouble. I'm not sure I understand the issue fully since 1Password should detect your data file automatically, and even if it doesn't you should be prompted to select it:

How it began. I got a new iMac and moved all the files into the new mac. I wanted the update(previous version was from the website) but I went thru the app store site this time. After opening the update (4) I seen all the info was in 4. I noticed that the updating didn't trash the older program, so I trashed it. A file didn't get trashed because it was in use, the file is 1Password.agilekeychain. I placed it on the desktop. This was the file I double-clicked and everything was gone. The file is only 19 KB. I went to the preferences and restored from a backup and everything is back to normal. whew. My question is can I delete this file? Is it a left over from the previous version? Also, what is this pop up that states, "You don't have permission to do that." mean?

  • Hi @al2teach,

Can you tell us how you moved your files to the new Mac? It sounds like you did a Migration from old Mac, is that correct? If yes, that sounds like the migration didn't go right and now, you have permission issues caused by that bad migration.

Could you email us your diagnostic report and include a link to this thread, so that we can connect the dots and help you.

    Thanks!
