1Password not communicating with Firefox plug-in & crashes
I just bought and installed 1Password for Mac, 1Password Mini, and the Firefox extension. 1Password Mini is not able to communicate with the Firefox plug-in, and 1Password for Mac crashes when clicking the 1Password button in Firefox.
The Firefox extension shows as an installed add-in in Firefox, and the 1Password button shows in the tool bar.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open 1Password Mac & enter master password.
- Open Firefox.
Follow directions on Basic FAQ
- Visit a login page
- Enter your username and password
- Save the login in 1Password -- 1Password does not prompt me to save, as expected.
Click 1Password button in Firefox toolbar
- 1Password Mac crashes with following console message:
10/22/13 11:58:16.708 AM 1Password 4[375]: 402002 [URL_HANDLER:0x7fb202c0e490:] I handleActivateHelperURL: | Handling activate helper url for browser Firefox.
- Drop-down message in 1Password Mini states, "1Password menu bar app started. To use 1Password in Firefox this mini app needs to stay running in your menu bar. with button: Use in Firefox"
Browser reports "Looking for 1Password app"
All instructions in showArticleAppAlreadyInstalled followed. Still not working.Restart 1Password Mac.
Steps to repeat 100% reliable.
The plug-in for Chrome works correctly.
Any ideas?

One more thing: Even though the Firefox extension is installed, 1Password Mini still shows the option "Add Firefox Extension".
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the browser plug-in several times, but no difference in behavior.

This problem ended up being related to websockets being disabled in Firefox. Thanks for support pointing me to this:
