How Do I Obtain a Family License?

I purchased 1P4 on the Apple App Store. I assumed somewhere along the way I would be offered the choice to acquire a family license + a Windows license. I did get an automatic download of 1P4 but it appears to be an individual license. Should I have purchased from your website? How do I obtain the bundle and the associated pricing?

@u2jimbo The Mac App Store doesn't have the option for a family license, and definitely not a Windows license. For those, you need to purchase from the AgileBits Store.

But, apps are purchased on the Mac App Store are linked to a single Apple ID. So if you log in with that ID on all the Macs in your household, you can download and install your apps on each one. Will that possibly work for you instead? Then, you could purchase the Windows license on the AgileBits Store (if you ask, I think they give a discount on Windows when you own the MAS version so that it's the same as buying the bundle).

Not sure if you seen @Megan's response to you earlier, that explains this fairly well too.

    Hope that helps!

I recall that of you email your Mac App Store receipt to AgileBits, they will supply a license to the version from their web site. You could send your receipt and ask how to go about converting to the Family license. I don't know how the Windows version gets into that mix. I don't have a need for a Windows installation.

Thanks for your comments. Clearly, I was confused. I believed I could accomplish my 'family pack+windows' goal through the Mac store or Agilebits.
In any case, I have acquired two copies of the software, one for my laptop and one for my desktop. I read somewhere, recently, that 1P4 wasn't even available yet for Windows, so that one will have to wait. My wife's computer will be the next one to work on...

If I can submit the Mac store receipts to Agilebits to acquire the family pack pricing, then all is good. Do you know the e-mail address that would be appropriate?

    Thanks again.

    @u2jimbo

I have acquired two copies of the software, one for my laptop and one for my desktop.

Just to be clear about this, you just downloaded a copy for each from the MAS (didn't pay twice)?

I read somewhere, recently, that 1P4 wasn't even available yet for Windows, so that one will have to wait.

Right, 1Password 4 isn't available for Windows yet. But a purchase now will get you a free upgrade to version 4 when it comes out.

There shouldn't be a problem logging in with your Apple ID on your wife's computer and then downloading 1Password from the MAS. Or if you'd prefer to switch to the AgileBits store version for her (and contact AgileBits about a family license), then you can download it here and start using the 30 trial right away (while you wait to get the license worked out).

So, who do you email about the license questions? support@agilebits.com

I'm sure they'll get it all sorted for you (be sure to include your MAS receipt).

    Thanks, Jasper.
I have only been able to find one receipt on the Apple store. I assumed that meant that I was getting family pack pricing and that the added cost would show up later...? I may choose to transfer everything from the Mac Store to AB since it appears there are significant upgrade delays on the Apple Store version, but so far no rush. A Windows version is even less compelling.

@u2jimbo, you'll have only one Apple Store receipt if you use the same Apple ID on both computers on which you use 1P. (The Mac App Store version can be used on any computer on which you use the same Apple ID.)

OK, I think I get it. If my wife has her own Apple ID we will get charged another $49.95. If she doesn't, I will enter my Apple ID and not get charged.
That makes more sense, now that I think about the 5 computers (max) that I can 'authorize' under my Apple ID. OK, one more question: if my Windows 7 OS, running under Bootcamp, is one of the 5 computers I have authorized under my Apple ID could I download 1Password for Windows and not be charged? I'm guessing - Not! - since the programs for each OS are different.

    Thanks Stephen.

@u2jimbo, I think you're entirely right in guessing you couldn't run 1P for Windows under Bootcamp "for free"! But note what @JasperP said about getting a free upgrade to 1P4 for Windows if you buy now.
