When I attempt sync via Dropbox of Folder on my Mac Mini, the application just crashes and asks me to send a report.

It seems to sync find on my Macbook Pro, but Mac Mini is causing problems. I've restarted my machine and still the same issues. What would it be?

P.S. iCloud sync works without crashing

    The best thing to do in this case (just in case you haven't done so already) is to complete and submit the crash report including a cross-reference to this forum thread. (Sorry if you've already done that.)

    Yea I have sent the problem report, but just wanted a bit more direct support. For quite a pricey Mac App i'd like some help on this.

    I had this problem, too, but somehow it magically went away on my third try. After it failing twice, I found this thread, signed up for a forum profile, and tried it one more time so I could add this thread URL to the crash report. Low-and-behold the DropBox synch worked without crashing. Hmmm.

    Hi @wasimkham,

    I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we have been a bit overwhelmed since the launch of 1Password 4 for Mac. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.

    @Stephen_C is right, in cases like this where a crash occurs, the Report will often show us information that we are unable to get via public forums like this, so it can be very useful in tracking down the issue.

    However, since your original post, there have been several updates to 1Password 4. Our developers have been doing a great job squashing bugs lately. Please make sure that you have the latest and greatest version of 1Password: 4.0.8 for purchasers from the Mac App Store, and 4.0.9 for users who purchased directly from our website. If you are still seeing crashes after updating, please let me know and we'll investigate further.

    Hi @stanward,

    I'm so glad to hear that threatening to report the crash seems to have fixed it ... ;)

    If you do run into any further snags, we're here to help!

    Greetings, I would like to chip in a couple cents.

    After much gnashing of teeth I have sussed out where this happens (for me). Here is the breakdown of software combinations I have tried.

    MAS => Mac App Store version of 1Password (4.0.8)
    ABS => AgileBits Store version of 1Password (4.0.9)
    10.x => Version of Mac OS

    MAS + 10.9 = okay
    MAS + 10.8.4 = crash
    ABS + 10.8.4 = okay

    I have not tried the ABS version with 10.9 because I am at work right now, but it is probably safe to assume that it works fine. When I get back to my personal computer after the holiday weekend, I will try it out and update this post with the result.

    If any additional info from me might be helpful, I'd be happy to provide it. I have submitted crash reports when prompted.

    Hi @nickrichter,

    Thanks for adding your feedback here! Technically, 1Password 4 does require an operating system of 10.8.5 or higher, so if you have it installed on 10.8.4, this could be where your issues are coming in. However, please do send us a crash report when you come across this issue and we'll see what we can do to improve things. :)

    Thanks for the reply @Megan. I did make an error however. I was using two different computers because I was messing around with the feasibility of setting up a shared vault to be used amongst co-workers and one system was 10.8.4 (the secondary test computer), while the other (my primary work computer) was 10.8.5. The results were the same in all instances.

    The 10.9 system was my home computer, which I still have not yet tried the Agilebits Store version on because of the holiday and all that jazz.

    So the above comment could be read as 10.8.4/5.

    Also, my apologies for the mangled formatting. I saw the Markdown note below the box I was typing in but I'm not "deep catalog" with it so it did not occur to me that the line breaks I typed would be stripped out. While I do entertain the possibility that I am blind or a big dummy, I do not see an edit button anywhere so I can fix that.

    Hi @nickrichter,

    Thanks for clarifying that. Please be sure you are sending those crash reports in to the team, as they can be quite useful in tracking this down.

    Now, if you're feeling a bit adventurous, I'm wondering if you might be willing to try out the 1Password beta and see if you still see the crash there. You can download the beta here: https://agilebits.com/downloads, just select the 'Download beta' option.

    Please don't feel too bad about the forum formatting ... it's a lot neater than some of my earliest posts were (took me a while to get used to the way things work around here.) For future reference, you are able to edit your posts for one hour after the post is made - you should see a small gear next to the post #. :)

    @Megan

    I tried the beta on my work computer running 10.8.5 and when I attempted to turn on syncing I got the following prompt:

    The operation could not be completed.
    No other information is available about the problem.

    However, it did work, so I'm not sure what is going on there. There was no crash report prompt, nor anything of that nature.

    That said, I have no way to tell if that is indicative of the bug that was causing a crash in the Mac App Store version being squashed. But, considering that 4.0.9 works it likely has been already, it's just that the MAS version is behind (4.0.8)?

    Update: Curious turn of events. Perhaps that was a "first-run" issue, now when I mess with syncing it works as usual, no prompts, no notifications of any kind.

    Hi @nickrichter,

    You're right, 4.0.8 is missing a few of the fixes that made it into 4.0.9. This is simply because we can release versions directly via our website, while the Mac App Store has an approval process that any new updates must go through before they are released. We do have a big release on the way that should polish a lot of things up for both the website and the Mac App Store versions.

    I am hoping that "works as usual" means that things are running smoothly now ... and not that it is still crashing as it usually was before! :)

    @Megan

    Bad news.

    Last night, I saw the 4.1 update was available in the Mac App Store. So, this morning when I got to work, I updated 1Password right away. It still crashes when trying to set up syncing. I tried a couple different things. First, I simply launched the app as it was: empty vaults, with no sync option enabled. Attempting to turn on syncing caused the helper to crash. Next, I tried to go for a "fresh start". I deleted the agilebits content from ~/Library/Containers and was greeted with the welcome screen the next time I launched the app. I selected "I've used 1Password before" and pointed to my existing keychain on Dropbox. When I entered my password to unlock the vault, it crashed.

    I sent the crash reports in both instances.

    Is there a better and/or more thorough way to "start from scratch" (beyond deleting stuff from ~/Library/Containers)? Would that even help?

    The machine: Mid 2010 iMac running 10.8.5

    Hi, @nickrichter.

    I'm sorry the 4.1 update has brought some bad news with it. So we can efficiently get this sorted out for you through email please send us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac that's having this problem; instructions are here:

    Sending us your Diagnostics Report to help us help you!

    Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forum, but do include a link to this topic and your forum username in the email so we can "connect the dots" when we receive it. A quick comment here mentioning that you've sent it would also be helpful. Thanks in advance!

    Greetings @sjk,

    Sorry for the long delayed reply. I generated a diagnostic report and sent it along. I neglected to include my forum username but I did include a link to this thread. It shouldn't be too difficult to suss out who I am. ;)

    Cheers.

    @megan @sjk

    I saw this morning that an update for the Mac App Store version of 1Password dropped during the weekend. Dropbox and Folder sync has been restored and everything is running smoothly.

    Thanks you guys.

    Cheers.
