Hi

In addition to the automatic backups, how can I manually backup to an external device, say Flash Drive.

Turn on Time Machine. It will include your 1Password backup folder by default.

Alternatively, you could use something like Carbon Copy Cloner automatically to sync the 1P4 database to the flash drive every time the flash drive is connected. (In the AgileBits store version of 1P4 the database is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Data/OnePassword.sqlite. The location will be different if you are using the Mac App Store version, I think.)

Where in the new version I specify an alternative location store the database? Where is the base of a default (from Mac App Store)?

I believe you cannot change the location which 1P4 uses to store its database. According to this knowledge base article the location in which the Mac App Store version stores the database is ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper.

    Thanks for all the responses.
It is clear that 1P4 will only back up data to the HD/Time Machine and does not offer alternative remote backup options.

Surely, with all the important data of "one's life" effectively in a single "location" this is a major shortfall of the AgileBits software!!

For 1P3 I do not use the standard location and after installation 1P4 I see the old password database. How do I make it relevant?

    Hi @billhe and @1User,

We have chosen to keep the backup location standard in 1Password 4 to ensure that backups are performed regularly and reliably. If a user changes the backup location to an external drive, for example, and then the drive becomes disconnected, backups will not be saved. This also ensures that they are easy to find and for our support team to direct users to in case they need to restore to a backup.

As @Xe997 says, using TimeMachine will ensure that this valuable folder is backed up. Additionally, using a sync solution like Dropbox or iCloud will save a copy of your data in the cloud in case anything happens to your home set-up. :)
