Struggling with ramifications of my V4 upgrade

I love 1Password and have managed to create some tangled problems with the upgrade to v4. I was using dropbox to sync and running on three other platforms - and all was good -- then I upgraded to V4. I probably picked some wrong options - I just can't be sure but I ended up with multiple vaults (I only want one) - remote machines lost many of their records (apparently they synced to an old version and half my records were put in the trash automatically... Anyway I now have one clean copy of my data on my primary machine (that I can see with 1Password V4 and three others that have varying levels of junk in them.) The same machine shows four vaults - other machines show various numbers... I want to make another safety copy of the one vault that is golden - and I want to make all the others go away on all the other machines (macs, iPhones, iPads) - ultimately I want to use DropBox to sync them all back up to the golden copy on my primary machine.

How can I be safe first (make a solid copy of the one good vault) and know it is solid?

How can I find all the others and zap them?

Any other advice?

Thanks for your help.

  • Not the exact same issue, but I would like to merge to archives and it won't let me.

    Hi @Caribou,

I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we have been a bit overwhelmed since the launch of 1Password 4 for Mac. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having trouble sorting things out with 1Password 4, but we should be able to get this sorted out fairly quickly for you. In order to track down all these vaults though, I might need to see some Diagnostic Reports from your various machines. (This will allow us to give you some more detailed instructions.)

To create a Diagnostic Report for Macs running 1Password 4:

Download the 1Password Troubleshooting utility and follow the instructions to generate the report.

To create a Diagnostic Report in Windows:

Select Help > Diagnostics Report > Export to File from the menu bar in 1Password.

Then attach both files to an email to us: support+forum@ agilebits .com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    Hi @4me2remember,

Again, I apologize that we're not speedier in responding here - your patience is much appreciated!

There is no direct way to merge vaults right now. Your best bet is to export your data (File > Export > Export all Items, select .1pif format) from one vault and then import into the other. :)
