Using multiple vaults for syncing and sharing

Hi,

For the longest time I have been using 1Password for Mac to store all of my logins. It has gotten to be a big list. I would like to sync with my phone and share some of my logins with my wife. But, 1) I use a long complicated password on the Desktop that is too much to enter on the phone, and 2) for security reasons it would be nice to not have everything on my wife computer or on my phone.

It seems like vaults are the way to do this:
Create one Family vault that is shared between my wife and I (and synced to my phone)
Create one Mobile vault that is synced to my phone, with a complex, but more manageable password.
Maintain one High security vault that is only on my desktop with the most crucial logins (e.g. financial websites).

Can I do all this? If not, is there some other way to reasonably achieve what I am trying to achieve, or part of it (e.g. just two vaults, one for family/phone and one for higher security, non-shared items, with a harder password)? It's a little hard to understand for me exactly how the vaults and syncing work.

Thanks!

    Hi @travisp,

I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we have been a bit overwhelmed since the launch of 1Password 4 for Mac. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.

Thanks so much for providing so much detail about your desired set-up! Unfortunately, you're going to have to be patient with us for just a bit longer, because multiple vaults are, at this point, a Mac only feature. We hope to have an iOS update soon that supports multiple vaults, but for now your iOS app can only sync with your primary vault.

Just for your information, I'm including the instructions here on how to share a non-primary vault. I hope this helps to explain the process a bit better.

In preparation for multiple vaults being available on iOS, what I can suggest is this: organize your Logins into folders according to which vaults you want them in. Then, when you create a new vault, all you have to do is export the contents of the folder and import them into the new vault! (You'll want to delete the folder after they are properly imported though, because the items will not stay in sync between vaults.)

As to your question about high security: your complex master password will unlock your primary vault, and all of your secondary vaults as well. You can also open secondary vaults individually by choosing 1Password > Switch to Vault when 1Password is locked.

Please let me know if you have further questions! I'm sorry that I don't have a better answer for you right now.
