Improvement idea: Automatically ping URLs in the background occasionally (maybe once a month)
Ping the URLs to see if they appear to still be active. Automatically mark anything that looks dead and put it in a separate filter (maybe part of the security audit area). Should also have an ability to ignore the check on specific entries (e.g., test servers that are only available from within a firewall and don't need validation).
I've been using 1Password since 1.0 (maybe even before that). I recently went through my database and cleaned out old entries. This has taken a couple weeks (probably cleaned out 700 old items). I found nearly 100 entries for sites that are long dead. Thinking forward about how to avoid this problem again in a few years, a simple dead link check would be invaluable (and, I'd assume, relatively cheap to build).
Thoughts?

Hi @joshjhall,
Thanks for the suggestion! It sounds like a pretty great idea to me. I'll be sure this gets passed along to our developers :)

I haven't seen an update to this suggestion since it was posted in December. I too would love the ability to have 1Password either search for dead links, or add an app under the help- tools section similar to your current program app that removes redundant logins. Is that a possibility?
