The iOS version is licensed separately from the OS X version, so you, you will need to purchase a copy for your iPad if you want to use that too.
If you are willing to have read-only access to your data and plan to synchronize via Dropbox, you could take advantage of 1PasswordAnywhere, which will let you have access to your data through any web browser, including Mobile Safari on your iPad. It's an approach if you don't need to be able to add data from your iPad and don't want or need the other features of the full iOS application.
For myself, it's been worth it to have licenses to both.
I do not speak for AgileBits, although I am confident that this is the same answer you would get if you wait for an official answer directly from the company.
