Chrome Error: "There was an error installing the Chrome extension. Please try again."
Hi ... I've followed the instructions for the installation of the Chrome One Password 4 Extension. It will not load. Part way through the process, I get a message saying: "There was an error installing the Chrome extension. Please try again." That is as far as I get. Using MacBook Air, OSX 10.9.1. Any ideas about how to restart this installation? Had no problem installing the Safari 1Password installation.

Hi @JRoll,
I'm so sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the Chrome extension. Please try downloading the Chrome extension directly from the Chrome Web Store
If you're still having difficulties, please let me know!

If you are using an outdated version of Chrome you will not be able to install the 1Password extension. Please be sure to stay up to date. The current stable version of Chrome as of this writing is 31.0.1650.63, but the 1Password Chrome extension should work well since the late 20s or so. :)
If you're still having trouble, could you please let me know what specific version of Chrome you are using?

I tried installing it via your page, and also via the Chrome Extensions page. When I try to install via YOUR page I just get this installation error.
When I try to install via the Chrome Extensions page I get THIS error:
I love your software, but without the browser extension it's not very useful.....
MY SYSTEM
Mac Pro 3,1
OS 10.8.5
1Password Version 4.1.3 (413002)
Chrome Browser Version 31.0.1650.630 -
So sorry that you are still having trouble even in the latest version of Chrome, @fredfx. The error is almost always due to running an old version of Chrome, but it is not restricted to just that.
Can you confirm that you are attempting to install the 1Password 4 extension via 1Password's preferences or the menu bar?
In your case we may need to dig a little deeper if you are running the current version of Chrome and installing the correct version of the Chrome extension. (There is a v3 extension as well. That's why I wanted to make sure you were installing from 1Password's preferences or the menu bar. That way you will always get the correct extension.)
If you're still having trouble, could you please email us a Diagnostics Report?
Download the 1Password Troubleshooting utility and follow the instructions to generate the report.
Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support@ agilebits .com
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

Thanks I'm prepping the diagnostics report now. I tried installing via the 1Password menu item and when it brings me to this web page in Chrome:
What's a little confusing is that it ALWAYS says 1Password Extension is downloading. Shouldn't there be some kind of message that says it's finished downloading? When I press the Add button, the Chrome "add extension" dialogue box opens, and when I click ADD I get the error message.
Be on the lookout for the Diagnostics report.

That is definitely confusing. Thanks for sending your Diagnostics Report. Someone will reply as soon as possible via email. We'll work with you via email until everything is resolved so that we are not duplicating efforts or creating any confusion.

Well, just replacing the browser didn’t fix the problem.
However, I tried installing again from the Chrome app store, and the message I got was “couldn’t create download directory”.
So I went and checked my Chrome preferences, and the download directory that Chrome was pointing to was a drive that I took out of service ages ago.
So I changed where it was pointing and voila….it installed.
Even though I had chrome set to "ask where to download", it STILL looked for a DEFAULT download directory.
Maybe for system updates and extensions, Chrome doesn’t prompt for a download directory.Anyway….thanks for your help.
