Automatic graphics switching

I would like to take advantage of the automatic graphics switching on my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) when using it from battery power using 10.9.1. Unfortunately one of the few apps that stops me doing this is 1Password, particularly the 1Password Mini app.

I've reads some of the earlier discussions on this topic and am curious to know if this is likely to be possible with my hardware. Any advice would be welcome.

    Hi @SteveH,

I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we experienced a surge in support requests recently. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.

We're aware that the animation in 1Password Mini can drain the battery in older Macs. Our developers are working on getting this sorted out - and I've added a vote for you in the issue tracker so that they know you're keen on a solution!

I hope this helps, but we're here if you have any more questions :)

To add my vote to this: 2010 MacBook 15" frequently suffer from TS4088 http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4088 and it is getting increasingly harder to get Apple to fix them for free. On those computers it is important to be able to disable use of discrete GPU to prevent system from crashing. Please consider adding an option to disable animations that are triggering this (use of OpenGL or what not).

    Hi, @obstacle.

I've included your comment about this with the report we have about it our tracker. Thanks for bringing up another reason it matters.
