How many 1Password apps do I need to buy?
My husband already bought 1Password for his IOS. We are happy to share vaults. I want to use 1Password on my Mac and on my iPhone. If I am only adding password information to his existing vault, do I still have to buy two apps -- one for each device?

Unfortunatley yes. Mac AppStore and iTunes purchases can also be loaded again when using the same account. If you already have a account defined on the devices you should not switch, otherwise you could really create a problem and you would need to restore the device to solve it. I had a problem like this once and now my sister is having a nearly the same problem on a Mac.

Hi @triggmcleod,
Thanks for giving 1Password a try! Just to clarify our licensing a bit, you and your husband are welcome to share vaults. If you share an AppleID, you can also share your copy of 1Password for iOS, as all App Store purchases are tied to your AppleID. @Appfel is right though, if you have separate AppleIDs on your device, you will need to purchase 1Password 4 for iOS separately for iOS device.
To use 1Password on your Mac, you can purchase either directly from the Mac App Store or from our web store. :)

iOS devices are capable of containing apps from multiple AppleIDs. The process is as follows (from memory):
- Go into the device settings, AppleID, and sign out from your own one.
- Sign into your husband's account.
- Open the App Store and download any apps you want from his AppleID account.
- Go back to the device settings, AppleID, and sign out from his account.
- Sign back into your account.
Now you have a device authorized to use content from 2 AppleIDs. When app updates come out, they will show up normally in the App Store Updates tab, but you'll be asked to enter his password if you choose to download those updates.

I have a similar question about software and hardware. Both me and my wife have an iPhone, we both have iPads, and we both have a Macbook. In addition, we have an older iMac (it is on OSX V10.9.2) that we both use. What software would we need to buy if we wanted to have 2 separate accounts (not shared between us) for each of us that we could use on our iPhone, iPad and laptop, and would it be a problem to attach the iMac to one of those accounts?

Hi @EdT3,
Thanks for asking about which 1Password software/licenses you and your wife would need for use on all your systems/devices. I'd be glad to help you get that sorted out. :)
For use on all the Macs, you could purchase one 1Password 4 for Mac family license from our Agile Online Store for the software that can be downloaded from our website.
Since it sounds like you'd prefer using separate Apple IDs, each of you would separately purchase one copy of 1Password for iOS directly from Apple to use on each of your respective devices.
However, if you did choose to use a single Apple ID for all 1Password purchases and future updates from Apple you could purchase one copy of 1Password for Mac and one copy of 1Password for iOS to "share" between all your systems/devices. It's more cumbersome switching between different Apple IDs to manage Mac App and iTunes Store purchases.
For more about our software licensing/purchasing, please refer to: AgileBits Software Licenses
If you have questions or need further information about any of this please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again for your interest in 1Password!

So, to clarify for my scenario:
I have my one apple ID. I have purchased 1Password for my iMac for $49.something. If I want to use 1Password on my iPhone and iPad, I need to purchase the 1Password for iOS from the ap store? I have and use dropbox between my devices, but do not yet have a Vault set up on Dropbox because I don't fully understand the Vault setup.
(I consider myself lucky that I have figured out how to make 1Password generate passwords and store them for auto-use on the web sites I visit!)
So do I need both 1Password for my Mac and 1Password for iOs?
Thanks for the help!!
Jim

Andrew is right, 1Password 4 for iOS is a separate purchase. If you'd like some help understanding the ins and outs of 1Password though, I'd be happy to walk you through things! Take a peek at our User Guide and let me know where things stop making sense for you, and we'll go from there. :)

I trust that 1Password for the Mac (which I already own) and 1Password for iOS (which I'm considering) will sync up with next to no effort. Am I correct?

I'll let you know in a few minutes, WardLarkin! ;)

Wardlarkin - I used WiFi syncing and 1Password on my iMac synced just fine on my iPad. :)

Hi @WardLarkin
Wi-Fi sync is particular to version, so if you have version 4 installed on all your devices (or version 3, but not both) Wi-Fi sync should work fine for you - please let me know if it doesn't!
and @Jimmydreams
I'm glad to hear that Wi-Fi got your data from your iMac to your iPad :)
