Gray "Master Password" text (no vault image) pops up when I click on 1P web extension
Hi, all--I just upgraded to 1Password for Mac and I'm confused. When I click on my 1P key icon in my Firefox or Safari browser, and 1Password hasn't yet been opened, I get a little gray "Master Password" piece of text floating off to the right of my browser window. In the past, clicking on the unopened key would pull up the vault image, and right then and there, I would type in my 1P master password. I can't do that now. I can't click on that "Master Password" text--it's just a reminder that disappears.
Instead, I have to go to the main application and open it before the browser extensions work. I must have done something wrong in my install?
I followed the directions carefully for checking my 1P version 3 with a new fake login (per online instructions) before uninstalling my 1P3 browser extensions. Then installed the new extension for version 4.
The only thing I might have done out of order--could this have caused confusion--is that I left version 3 installed for a bit while I messed with version 4. I also left version 4 on my desktop until after I had brower extensions installed, then I moved the version 4 app to my Applications folder. I dunno if that matters.
What am I doing wrong?
I made a screenshot of what happens but I don't know how to upload it. :-(

If you want to add a screen shot you have to put it on a third party site (Dropbox, for example) and then link to it in your post by using the little "image" button on the menu bar when you type your post.

Hi @TeriLC,
I'm sorry to hear that you've been having trouble getting 1Password all set up. I wonder if moving 1Password 4 to your applications folder might have caused the disconnect with the extensions. Let's try reinstalling them and see if that gets things behaving a bit better.
Please follow these steps to reinstall the Safari extension:
- Open Safari.
- Click Safari > Preferences in the menu bar.
- Click the Extensions tab.
- Click "Uninstall" for the 1Password 4 extension.
- Restart your Mac.
- Launch Safari and visit the following page: https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html
- Click the big green button, and follow the instructions on the new page to install the extension.
Please follow these steps to reinstall the Chrome extension:
- Open Chrome.
- Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and hit return.
- Click the trash can next to the 1Password 4 extension and remove it.
- Restart your Mac.
- Launch Chrome and visit the following page: https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html
- Click the big green button, and confirm the installation.
Please follow these steps to reinstall the Firefox extension:
- Open Firefox.
- Click on the Tools menu, then Add-Ons.
- Click the remove button next to the 1Password 4 extension and remove it.
- Restart your Mac.
- Launch Firefox and visit the following page: https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html
- Click the the big green button, and follow the instructions on the new page to install the extension.
If you're still not able to use the extensions after reinstalling, please let me know and we'll investigate further.
