Can't sync between accounts using USB key
I have maybe a novel(?) syncing issue since I read most on this forum syncing over Dropbox. I have a USB key that in theory I'm carrying between machines and three accounts. But my machines and accounts are all on one laptop. I have:
- Macbook Air with partitioned HD - say Partition A & B
- Partition A - Machine/Account 1 - "Work" with Mavericks installed - I reboot between this and the next two (restart + option key), which isn't often and keeps a reasonable air-gap between work and play
- Partition B - Machine/Account 1 - "Home" primary local account, also with Mavericks installed
- Partition B - Machine/Account 2 - "Finances" local account - separate from casual browsing - log into this as needed
I have a USB key that just stays mounted in the laptop at all times. I've created a sync folder on that key with 1Password.agilekeychain, which I specify as the sync preference for 1Password on all three "machines".
The problem is that I added/updated a password on Partition A/Account 1 (work), and it syncs with Partition B/Account 1 (home) but doesn't with Partition B/Account 2 (finances). If Iook at sync preferences when logged into my finances account, it declares that it last synced X seconds ago (well after I logged into the account), but I don't see the update in the password list in the running instance of 1Password under that local account.
It seems like this should be no different than carrying a USB key between three separate machines. I've just virtualized it all on one laptop.
Any thoughts on this?

Hi @duglessxott,
That is a bit of a unique set-up, but it should be working. Now you didn't mention what version of 1Password you're using, so I just want to bring your attention to this post: 1Password 4.1 Losing Sync Permissions after System Restart [MAS] - resolved with 4.1.2 update. Although it discusses Dropbox primarily, it could apply to Folder Sync as well. This issue has been fixed in 4.1.2, however, it does require that you reset syncing to re-write the syncing permissions.
Please try to reset sync on each of your accounts and partitions. This should solve things for you, but if you're still seeing issues, please let me know and we'll investigate further!

Hi Megan,
I was indeed using 4.1.2, but reading the referenced post, I had never deleted and reset syncing permissions. I've done that now, and so far, so go.
I'll confirm for posterity as I traverse my setup and observe a bit.
Thanks for the tip!
Doug
