1Password iPhone version with 1Password Mac AirBook OS version

I downloaded 1Password for my iPhone 5. Then I found out I also need the 1Password for my Mac (to sync). First of all, am I correct in that I need to purchase both? (I did purchase both.)

Now that I just purchased 1Password 4 for my Mac, I see that I don't have the required Mountain Lion OS, I have Lion. I don't want to upgrade to Mountain Lion. That said, I have two further questions:

  • Will a previous version of 1 Password work with the iPhone version I just downloaded?
  • If so, will AgileBits let me download a previous version if I already downloaded (but haven't installed) the 1Password 4 (latest version)?

    Version 3 will work on your Mac running Lion just fine, and it will sync properly to version 4 on your iPhone. Version 3 is still available on the AgileBits web site.

    Yes, you do need to purchase both.

    As for how to work the finances out with the developers, I'll have to leave that to one of them.

    I assume you are aware that you can upgrade to Mavericks for free if your hardware is up to it.

    Well, never mind, I guess. I was able to download and install the 1Password version for Lion (Version 3.8.21). Thank you very much for your help.

    I'd be happy to answer your financial questions. As @hawkmoth says, 1Password is a separate purchase for each platform you want to use 1Password on. Since we released 1Password 4, we removed 1Password 3 from sale to avoid confusing customers. If you are unable to use 1Password 4, we'd be happy to add a version 3 license to your account. (Then when you do upgrade your operating system, you'll have a shiny new 1Password 4 license waiting for you.)

    Using the email address attached to your forum account I've found your license information in our back office records and I've added a 1Password 3 license for you. You should see an email soon with the details.
