I synced to two different Dropbox accounts. Any way to merge?

I have a work Dropbox account and a separate personal Dropbox account. Currently, my 1password for Mac is synced with my work Dropbox and my 1password for iOS is synced with my personal Dropbox.

This means that when I add login entries via my phone, they don't end up on my mac. And when I add entries to my mac, they don't end up on my phone.

Any idea how to resolve this? Is there some way to merge both of my 1password.agilekeychain files into one?

    Hi @rykap,

To get things synced up here, we'll need to choose which one of these Dropbox accounts you want to sync to.

Once you've decided where everything is going to end up, what we'll do is export the data in the other Dropbox account as a .1pif file and then import it into the database linked to the correct Dropbox account. Just let me know where you want to sync to, and I'll give you the detailed instructions :)

    Thanks Megan!

I'd like to sync everything to my personal Dropbox acccount. Is that enough info, or do you need more?

    Hi @rykap,

Thanks for providing that information. Here's what we'll do:

    • On your Mac, go to File > Backup and backup your data, just in case.
    • Go to Preferences > Sync and disable sync
    • Log out of your work Dropbox account and log in with your personal Dropbox account. Dropbox has some great instructions on how to do so here
    • Let Dropbox finish syncing your personal Dropbox account onto your computer
    • In 1Password, go to Preferences > Sync and set up syncing to the path of your existing keychain (default location is Dropbox/1Password)
    • 1Password will notice that there is data already there and ask if you would like to merge. Say yes.

That should get your databases merged nicely for you! Please let me know if you hit any snags during the process :)

    Hi @rykap‌
could you tell me how to do this on a standard laptop please.

  • Hi @Joslyn,

The same instructions apply for both desktops and laptops. If you need any further help, please let us know specifically where you're running into trouble.
