Feature request: Global notepad-like field
Hi all,
I really love 1Password and use it for more than 300 accounts but there is one thing, which is somewhat clumsy.
When I create a new account somewhere, I usually do it in these steps:
- Fill the registration form
- Use the password generator to create a new password
- Copy the password to a text editor
- Copy the password to the registration form
- Register my account (validation links via email and so on)
- Dismiss the 1Password dialog to save the password (I don't want to store the registration form in 1Password)
- Log out
- Login using my text editor "backup" of the password
- Store the password in 1Password
I know about the "Password" category in 1Password but I don't like to look for my latest generated password there. In many cases I need a few tries to get a valid password for the service due to various password rules.
I think it would be great to have a simple "notepad like" window in 1Password where I could store random text (my just created password) and get back to it later.
What do you guys think about that or how do you handle registration and/or change password procedures?
Blue.

No need to copy or paste anything. 1Password will automatically save a Generated Password when you fill it. Then when you save a Login on that site using the saved Generated Password it will be converted to a Login item.
- Fill Generated Password on signup page.
- ⌘\ to log in on signin page
You'll be prompted to save the Login. :)

In cases where you have generated more than one password, ⌘\ will not be as convenient since it only fills directly if there is exactly one Generated Password item for the site. However, you can easily sort by date in 1Password to make sure you are using the most recently generated one.
Of course, if you do need a secure "notepad" for some other purpose the Secure Notes category is a great option for storing freeform text.
I hope that helps. Please let me know.
Cheers!
