I have just updated Firefox Mac to version 27, and it disabled the 1Password plugin. Does anyone know if there is a workaround, or if AgileBits is working on a fix?

    Hi @adlyonz,

Which version of 1Password are you running? The current version 4.1.0 of the Firefox extension is compatible with 1Password 4 and Firefox 27. The extension can be manually downloaded and installed from this page:

    1Password Extension (for 1Password 4)

Please let us know if that doesn't work for you.

Thanks, sjk - I tried this earlier, but for some reason Firefox at thattime refused to allow me to load the extension. Now working perfectly, like before. Very happy!!

It makes me happy that it's working for you now, @adlyonz. :)

Maybe you were updating Firefox when the 4.0.1 extension update was being released and there was some temporary confusion.

    Am new to iPassword.

I just installed iPassword (Mavericks) and use Firefox (27).
I installed the iPassword Firefox extension from the website: it gave me 3.9.2.0
Then I get a message saying this is an old version and I need to uninstall and add the newer one.
    I do that.
But I cannot get it to give my the new extension.
At one point I had BOTH 3.9.2 as well as 4.0 something.
    Wot's up?

    Hi @WarthogARJ‌,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting the 1Password extension working. The link that @sjk posted above is for the version 4 extension, which is exactly what you want if you're using 1Password 4. Please follow these steps to remove any old 1Password extensions and install the shiny new version:

    • Open Firefox.
    • Click on the Tools menu, then Add-Ons.
    • Click the remove button next to all 1Password extensions you see there and remove them.
    • Restart your Mac.
    • Launch Firefox and visit the following page: https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html
    • Click the the big green button, and follow the instructions on the new page to install the extension.

This should get you all sorted out, but please let me know if you're still unable to get things working and we'll investigate further. :)

Hi, the problem is that the link for the correct extension is not well identified.
Sometimes you get the old one.
I suggest you put the extensions the same web page and just identify them clearly.
The "Big Green Button" doesn't actually SAY what version it is: it's treating your customers as idiots.
Be much better to identify them: just put them on one web page with the version number.
Or better, have an automated update.

I run three browsers (Chrome, Safari and Firefox). And several Firefox profiles.
When ALL of them need this messing around with installing, uninstalling then re-installing it gets a bit tedious.

The correct link (The Big Green Button) doesn't actually state a version number.
And the wrong one says it's for FireFox 27 (which is the newest on).
Plus it's the one you use for Safari and Chrome.
Just ditch the Big Green Button for Idiots and add it to the other URL you have.

  • Thanks for the feedback, Alan! The extensions are actually capable of being automatically updated (by your browser, not by 1Password). The best way to make sure you are getting the right extensions is to use 1Password's built-in installation options. In 1Password 4 for Mac this is found in 1Password > Preferences > Browsers > Install Browser Extensions.

We'll continue to work to make our documentation more clear.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Alan ( @WarthogARJ ),

Like Ben's suggestion to ensure getting the right extensions, you can also select Install Browser Extensions… from the main menu:
