Basic info re syncing through iCloud

Hi,
I have just bought 1Password for Mac and also for my Ipad4 and iPhone. As I am no wizard at all on these things, I would like to know the following: If/when I sync through iCloud, is this info stored in iCloud or is iCloud just used as a "run through"? And if the password info is stored in iCloud, is it encrypted, so that Apple (or anyone else) cannot access it? Moreover, is a general automatic backup of 1Password safe in iCloud?
Sorry, I know that this is probably basic knowledge, but regretfully not to me...and better safe than sorry :-) Thanks for enlightning me!

    Hi @Fynbo,

Welcome to 1Password! I hope you are enjoying the software so far. :) I am so glad you are thinking strongly about the security of your data - thats what we like to see!

If/when I sync through iCloud, is this info stored in iCloud or is iCloud just used as a "run through"?

Yes. A copy of your 1Password data will be stored in iCloud.

And if the password info is stored in iCloud, is it encrypted, so that Apple (or anyone else) cannot access it?

Yes, don't worry - it is encrypted.

Moreover, is a general automatic backup of 1Password safe in iCloud?

We are very confident about storing 1Password data in the cloud, as your data file is encrypted with an exceedingly secure encryption algorithm called AES. Even if someone were to acquire a copy of your 1Password data file, it would be extremely difficult (approaching impossible in a human lifetime) for them to actually gain access to your passwords without your Master Password. In short, we believe it is just as secure as having the data on your laptop. To learn more about cloud data security, have a read through the following article.

Also, you can check out our blog for many more articles that go into the nitty gritty math behind what makes 1Password so secure.
