If we can't get a newly installed beta to complete the initial sync to Dropbox or iCloud, how are we expected to contribute as beta testers?

    You're not necessarily expected to, but certainly invited to. :) Since the sync re-engineering began, I've been motivated to test stuff like setting 1Password up as a new user that I normally wouldn't have bothered with. Sometimes I have my data synced into the beta (it sounds like I might be having more success with that than you), but I often just test in 'demo mode,' which is an option for you if you can't get your data into the app. You probably can't use the beta as your main 1Password version right now, but you can definitely still contribute.
