1Password 4.2 - mini app does not respect preference to never start
Just auto-updated to latest version. Mistake.
Get nothing but database lock errors from the 1Pasword mini app. I don't use browser integration and the new 4.2 version does not respect the preference which says to never start it.

Using Activity Monitor I can see the mini process running all the time. I've killed it tons of times and it keeps auto-restarting. Tried complete logout and login to kill all user processes. Same problem.

Hi @JohnFreeborg,
Is this the error you've been seeing after updating to 4.2 and do you still have the problem after restarting your Mac?
"Failed to open 1Password database" error after updating
Even with the Always keep 1Password mini running option disabled it's normal and necessary for the 1Password mini helper process to be running whenever the main 1Password application is running.
Please let us know if that helps.

Yes that was the error - and it led me down this path due to the preference of expecting it to never be running.
Seems to work now. I don't see the db lock error anymore. The helper app is running of course, but the top menu bar doesn't have an entry for it which is what I want.
