At the moment, the 4.2.x update is only available through our website. We've submitted the version 4.2.x update to the Mac App Store and it is currently being reviewed by Apple. As soon as it passes their approval it will be released, which hopefully won't be too long! Thank you for your patience. :)

thank you for the update. I was part of the beta group and did a lot of testing but as there has been no benefit to me while spending my precious time to do beta testing (like getting a free license for testing) I decided to purchase 1Password on the AppStore as it was available at a reduced price (it was cheaper than a standard single license or upgrade on your site (I have purchased 1P3 on your site so an upgrade would have been possible to me). And on the other hand with the AppStore I have had the benefit to have it like a Family License. But yeah the downside is often that the AppStore lacks in having the most recent versions available.

It's true that both our webstore and the Mac App Store have their upsides and downsides. We're all waiting patiently for 1Password 4.2 to be released from the Mac App Store, I hope it's there for you soon :)

We found a few issues in version 4.2 that we felt were very important to fix, so we're not gonna be releasing it to the Mac App Store. We're gonna skip it and wait for the next version to be finished (likely 4.3), which will hopefully be very soon.
In addition, as you mentioned, Apple has to approve updates submitted to the Mac App Store which usually takes a few extra days.
I'm very sorry for the wait! Your patience is greatly appreciated. :)

Like I said above, the reason the update in the Mac App Store has been delayed is to ensure that our Mac App Store customers do not have to deal with the a few issues that were discovered in the original 4.2 release. We want to fix them before releasing an update to the Mac App Store.
Your patience is greatly appreciated. It won't be too much longer until 4.3 will be released.

Feels like since the cycle of new releases of the store version is shorter than the time it takes Apple to approve them, the MAS version will always be waiting for the next version.
Megan's sticky thread on the front page needs reissuing with "4.3" replacing "4.2".

As far as I know they never send a new 4.2.x update to the App Store, instead they will skip to 4.3 directly.
Although Apple sometimes takes some time to approve apps, Apple is not to blame on this one. Version 4.2 had some issues and AgileBits decided to never release it on the MAS and wait until 4.3.I have been using 1P for quite some time now and the MAS update was never more than 3-5 days behind the AgileBits shop version.
