1Password 4 cannot be used because of a problem [OSX 10.8.5]
Hi,
I am using OSX 10.8.5 on an iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3, 16GB RAM.
I was happily using 1Password 4x when an update was offered, I updated, then immediately after, another update was offered, again I accepted. Now, when I launch 1Password, I get the above warning and cannot access my passwords. Which made logging into this forum quite entertaining.
I have restared and reset the P-RAM and NV-RAM. I still get that warning
Please help if you can.

Hi @neilB,
I'm sorry you're having this problem opening 1Password 4 after a recent update. Have you seen a similar error message trying to use any other software or just 1Password 4? Have you restarted your system since it started? If doing that doesn't help, please try manually downloading and reinstalling the 1Password 4 application:
- Open the Download AgileBits Software page in your web browser.
- Under 1Password 4 for Mac, click the blue
Download Now
button to download version 4.2.2 (or whatever the latest version is). This downloaded file comes wrapped in a ZIP file. What happens with this ZIP file depends on how your browser is configured:
- Some browsers will automatically open safe files. In this case, the file will be automatically unzipped for you and you will see “1Password 4” in your Downloads folder.
- If the file wasn’t automatically unzipped for you, you will instead see a ZIP file in your Downloads folder. Double-click this file to unzip it.
Drag 1Password 4 from your Downloads folder into your main Applications folder, replacing the older version you'd previously been using. Please do not use any "app delete/cleaner" utility to remove 1Password.
I hope that freshly installed version will work for you. Please let us know how it goes!

Hi
thanks for the help, I did restart the Mac, when that didn't work, I tried restart with zapping PRAM and NVRAM also.
I re-downloaded the app from your site as suggested, the zip file is expanded automatically and I get a copy of 1Password.app in the downloads folder, When I double click on it, I get the same warning "1Password 4 cannot be used because of a problem", please check 1 Pasword 4 is x compatible with this version of OSX.
thx

Hi @neilB,
Could you try the last step of moving the version of 1Password 4 you downloaded and unzipped into your system /Application folder, then running it from there?
If it still fails to run, please send us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac, along with a link to this topic, to support+forum@agilebits.com. A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the report would also be helpful.
Once we see the report we'll be able to better assist you with other suggestions to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
thanks very much, that worked.
Go figure ;-). It certainly wasn't the issue earlier, as, of course an auto update does place it in the app folder. Anyway, it seems to be fixed now (and I learned something), it made me realise just how much I can't live without 1Password now! Thanks for a great application.
