Cannot open 1Password 4
I get the message "1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini. I sent a diagnostic report and I was emailed directions to uninstall 1Password 4 and then reinstall.
- Open 1Password 4 and click 1Password 4 > Preferences > General and uncheck the option to Always keep 1Password Mini running.
- Within 1Password 4 preferences, switch to Backup, and click Backup Now to perform a backup
- Quit 1Password 4 and move the app to the trash. Just as a reminder, please DO NOT use an app cleaner to uninstall 1Password.
HOWEVER, I cannot open 1Password 4. When I try I get the following message:1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini and Please restart 1Password. If this does not help, please contact AgileBits support.
How can I uninstall and then reinstall if I can't open the application?

Hi @nessajw,
Could you give this fix a try and let me know how it turns out for you?
- Open your Applications folder
- Locate the 1Password 4.app in the list
Drag it to the trash can.
- Please don't use any uninstaller applications, these may remove more than just the application, such as your data. We do not recommend that. We only want to remove the application, none of the extra items.
After dragging it to the trash, please empty your trash, then reboot your computer.
- After the reboot, please download a fresh copy of 1Password 4 from here: https://agilebits.com/downloads
- Once downloaded, unzip if necessary and drag it to the Applications folder. Then double click to run it.
I hope that helps! :)
