No icon or contextual menu for 1PW in Firefox popup windows [confirmed Firefox bug]

I can't find a thread that describes this issue. I apologize if I've somehow overlooked one.
The problem is with popup windows in Firefox (I'm currently using FF 29, but had this in the stable FF27 too). When I click to access a secure server through my university proxy, a new browser window opens prompting me to input my login details. This window stays open for the duration of the session. I just want to be clear that I am **not ** talking about those annoying mini login prompts like they use on MacUpdate. When this window opens, there is no 1Password icon (although icons for other plugins do not disappear) and there is no 1Password option in the contextual menu. I'm attaching two screenshots to illustrate the issue.

    Hi @nasaby,

Thanks for reporting the trouble you're having with these popup windows in Firefox. No reason to apologize. :)

This looks like the bug causing the 1Password extension not to load when a new window is opened using a link with a target="_blank" attribute. It's been reported to Mozilla here:

925950 – Regression (23 → 24): _blank links prevent Widget showing in add-on bar and toolbarbutton buttons from showing in toolbar

A simple way to check for it is to first disable the Open new windows in a new tab instead option in Firefox:

Then open the ‎new window test page and click the Open Google In New Window link. A new window will open with the 1Password extension icon and context menu item missing. A workaround is to right-click the link and select Open Link in New Window:

And 1Password's Fill Login on current web page keyboard shortcut (default Command-\) should work in the window/tab where its toolbar icon and context menu item are missing.

Another option is to use Safari or Chrome, neither which have this bug.

I hope that helps you to use 1Password with the secure server through your university proxy and with other sites where the bug is interfering. Let us know if you still can't get it working for any reason and we'll figure out something else. Thanks!

    sjk,
Thank you! This has been driving me mad. Unfortunately, this happens with javascript links that cannot be opened with the right click option (right clicking on the link does not give the option to open the link). If only Zotero for Safari or Chrome were as easy to use as Zotero for Firefox! At least now I know how to work around the problem. I will watch the Mozilla report until they fix it!

Nevermind. I missed the Command-\ advice. That works perfectly, thanks!
