password problem - incorrect Master Password

Hi @eric42,
I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble with passwords right now, however, I'm not quite sure I understand what's happening here. Encrypting your harddrive should have no effect on your Master Password or your 1Password data.
If you could provide a bit more information on what you're seeing, I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this issue. :)

Hi,
when I try to open 1Password, I complete the master password in the box and it simply says incorrect password try again with the correct hint in red in the box.
Please tell me if I have to buy another copy or how do I go about replacement? I would like to use this program again if possible.0 -
Hi @eric42,
Thanks for the additional information.
Might you have just forgotten your Master Password or be using the wrong one? For your privacy and security, your master password is known only by you. We cannot reset it for you and you cannot change it without entering the old one. There is also no "back door" to access your data without the master password. If there were, that would be a security hole that criminals could exploit to steal your information.
If you think you know what the password is and it's still not being accepted, please see the tips in this guide:
What do I do if I forgot my master password?
It's written for 1Password 3 so skip the Search Login Keychain tip with 1Password 4. The Restore From Backup tip for 1Password 4 is simply:
- Open 1Password 4.
- Select File > Restore… from the menu.
- Select the backup you want to restore, probably the most recent, then click the
Restore
button.
And the Start over tip for 1Password 4 is covered in its starting over guide. But you'll probably want to try other options first.
Do you have any 1Password data backed up somewhere else that you could restore from if the automatic backups from 1Password 4 don't help?
