To add: 1Password did not create any data or backup files, and so I am unable to follow the instructions for starting over as well. Frustrated/

Simplest thing to try is checking whether Caps Lock is inadvertently engaged. If not, still worth trying upper-case instead of lower-case or vice versa on some characters.
Those are the commonest causes of passwords being rejected.

Thanks, I did try that. No result. I really would like to start over, as this was my first login attempt. There is no data in the app. Any suggestions about starting over with no data or backup files?
