Retina Image for Firefox Addon Button

This might seem really petty and probably low down on your list of features to add to 1Password, but is there any chance of getting a HiDPI key image for the Firefox toolbar button? It looks blurry on my spangly new rMBP :/

Thanks! :D

    Hi @stuppy,

You should be seeing a retina icon already. :)

Can you try restarting your Mac first? If that doesn't work, please try removing the extension, then reinstalling it from here.

    I hope that helps!

    Interesting,

I tried both your suggestions, even installed the beta - still displays a blurry low-res key icon.

I installed the Safari extension and that displays a HiDPI icon.

    Any other ideas? Thanks

    FYI...

I have also completely removed both Firefox and 1Password and any redundant files from my computer and reinstalled both pieces of software. Still, a low res key icon is displayed.

Just to be clear, I am talking about the button in Firefox that sits in the toolbar next to the address bar. The 1Password Mini icon in the OSX menu bar is a high res retina image.

    Again, any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi @stuppy,

I've done some testing here, and I'm seeing the same blurry icon as you! (Ew.) I've passed this issue along to our developers in hopes that we can get the crisp icon loading properly soon.

Thanks for your patience as we work to sort this out!

Nothing yet, @stuppy, but I've updated the bug in our tracker to mention this remains an eyesore for you. :)

Thanks for bumping this thread back up, @stuppy.

We're updating the icon to match Firefox 29's new style and will try to find a way to support retina displays.

Edit: I removed a link to the wrong documentation and some incorrect information I wrote based on it.

    Hi Eric,

Thanks for pinging us on this issue!

@dteare wanted to respond here himself, but because of a bad Wi-Fi connection and running the iOS 8 beta, he was having a hard time.

Dave tried to get the retina change into 4.2.3 but it didn't make it. We hope to get to this soon as it will fix some other issues we're encountering as well. It is more than just switching an icon file, as we need to change some APIs that we use as well, so we cannot promise anything as we could very well run into some issues.

So in summary: "soon", we hope. :)

  • Those interested in retina icons in Firefox should check out the latest 1Password extension beta version. There's some changes in there that will interest you :)

"There's some changes in there that will interest you"...

Notably an ability to remove the icon from the FF menu bar... ;)

(The quote function, when posting, seems to have stopped working for me.)

    Hey Stephen,

Looks like quoting has been fixed:

If that's what you meant. :)
