Typing into the 1Password mini is "jiggery"
Can't come up with a good word for it but typing into the search is intermittent or stuttery. Given as how the mini is the main interface this makes usage a bit annoying. I've noted this on both a Mac Pro and an MBP Retina 2013 so I'd say the hardware can't be blamed.

Hi @vmaatta,
It sounds like something could be interfering with normal 1Password mini behavior on your Mac. Which version are you running, is searching working okay in the main application, and how many items are in the vault? On my slowish 2009 Mac, searching a +1500 item vault in both main and mini is very responsive.
Have you restarted 1Password mini since this problem started? And your Mac? If neither has helped, please send us a Diagnostics Report, along with a link to this topic, to support+forum@agilebits.com. A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the report would also be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hey there @sjk. I'm really sorry to have ignored your reply but I just noticed this as a notification in the forums interface. I don't frequent the forum and even though I've been here since you replied I have never noticed the notification badge. If there's been an email, I've missed it, I'll have to check the forum preferences…
Anyway, on to the point. The new 1P mini is working a little better. Definately not as bad as on version 4. Answers to your questions; about 1200 items, working normally in the main app so just an issue with the mini. I try to always be on the latest version and restart both app and Macs every now and then so yes. But like I said, the new mini interface it working better, I haven't given it much thought now even if I do have to wait a couple seconds after writing for it to catch up. More on the side of normal live search lag now. On the main application search is practically instantaneous and now that I compared them the contrast is clear.

Hi @vmaatta
Well I'm glad to hear it's at least better. Is the difference between the two something you would still like to investigate or one of these things where it's good enough for your typical usage? I'm just trying to get a better feel for how you feel about it. I don't have anywhere near the number of items either you have so I've not seen this. It's something we can continue exploring though if you're interested in doing so.

Now that the topic came up I think it is something that could be improved. I went and made a couple short videos to try and display the issue. They're quite poor and don't really convey the "sluggishness" when searching but maybe they give some idea. While making them I then noticed that with the Demo Vault, searching in 1P mini is just as instantaneous as in main application. So the issue only occurs with my main vault and 1P mini. Even with my main vault, searching in main application is very good.
I'll send my diagnostics report and the sample videos to the above mentioned address momentarily.

Hi @vmaatta
Once you've sent in the email you should receive a response with a ticket ID. If you could post that here that would be handy to help link the two up.
I don't believe it will make a difference but I also know it won't cause any harm. Could you try the Optimize Database option which can be found in Help > Tools > Optimise Database. The reason I don't believe it should make a difference is because you're experiencing a difference between different parts of our program rather than an overall issue.

I actually noticed the Optimize Database a couple days ago. Just in case I've now run it on both machines, no affect as you suspected. Btw, I realised that I am still stuck on version 4 on the laptop, I've found Yosemite to be still too buggy for my taste, but the other one is in Yosemite and 1Password 5. Both are experiencing the same behaviour with mini.

Hi @vmaatta,
I just looked at the videos you provided in your email, and it looks to be about the same speed here (with a very small test database). The reason it feels so much faster in the main app as compared to the mini is because the main app is not performing any animations. The mini does its window resize animation which actually blocks the UI from updating during the animation, and causes things to feel sluggish. The search itself is likely very fast (the main app has to go ask the mini to do the search then get the search results back so there's no reason to think the main app can search faster). This UI issue is one we're aware of (bug number OPM-2055), and we hope to do better in a future release.

Yeah, the videos aren't that good at conveying the sluggishness but blocking the UI would make sense. Do note however that using the Demo vault I'm seeing the mini being just as snappy as the main app. I should think the UI bug ought to affect both vaults equally.

Hi @vmaatta,
Thanks for getting back to us.
We currently have the issue that @rickfillion mentioned opened in our bug tracker that I hope will solve your problem once it's addressed.
I should think the UI bug ought to affect both vaults equally.
Not entirely true. There are other factors that can affect the UI responsiveness when searching in 1Password mini:
- Very large amount of items (although 1200 is not very large)
- Large amount of attachments or large attachments
- Huge Secure Notes' content.
Thanks!
