Manually specify Dropbox directory

Is there a way to manually specify which directory 1Password is saved in Dropbox? By default, 1Password, when Dropbox sync is enabled, is stored in the root Dropbox directory. I would like to place it in a folder called "Apps", which contains other application settings that are all using Dropbox to sync/store settings.

Thanks.

Furthermore, can you specify a manual location to store the 1Pass backups? I would like to keep my backups on Dropbox as well instead of locally.

I know you can achieve the latter with a symlink, but it's not as elegant as being able to natively specify the backup directory directly in the application.

    Hi @Sinsear,

1Password 4 for Mac uses Dropbox/1Password as the default folder to create Agile Keychains in with Dropbox syncing when the Dropbox root folder is selected during its configuration. You should be able to navigate to a different location under the Dropbox root to create (or select) a keychain, although Dropbox/Apps is not still not recommended even though it's been awhile since @MikeT wrote:

Also, do not move the 1Password data file into the Apps folder, that's a special sandboxed folder that should be avoided if the app like 1Password isn't coded to support the Dropbox Sync APIs with the sandboxed Apps container.

Dropbox/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain is the default and preferred location for the Agile Keychain syncing with a Primary vault. Using other locations under Dropbox to store Agile Keychains syncing with secondary vaults is more flexible.

The location for automatic 1Password 4 backups isn't currently customizable, except indirectly by using a symbolic link to another location like you mentioned.

We've chosen to keep the backup location standard in 1Password 4 to ensure that backups are performed regularly and reliably. If a user changes the backup location to an external drive, for example, and then the drive becomes disconnected, backups will not be saved. We want to make sure the backup process is as simple and worry-free for users as possible so restoring can be as convenient and reliable as possible.
