KitKat FS/process isolation issue prevents 'local file' sync from working with Bittorrent Sync

I have tried to set up B10 to use 'local file sync' into a filesystem which is where bittorrent sync runs. It fails on open. I believe this may be because of the new KitKat inter-app isolation/sandbox rules which prohibit random apps from 'sharing' filesystem paths.

I'm not 100% sure. this may be a misunderstanding on my part, but I'd love to know if anyone else has succeeded in using a filepath on /sdcard which is shared with another app. such as Bittorrent Sync.

  • Hi @ggm. Could you update to beta 14, our latest beta right now, and see if you're still experiencing this problem? We updated a lot of the mechanics behind folder sync in the last few updates. Thanks in advance!

It seems ok. I have managed to use my BTSync backed filestore on both nexus7 and nexus4 and sync with my OSX. Consider it closed.

(I suspect, it might have been what we politely call PBCK ie my fault)

  • We're glad to hear that you were able to get it working!
