Extension not working in Firefox (ok in Safari & Chrome) [moved to email]

The 1Password extension for Firefox appeared to install, but didn't pop up a little description after it was done (like it did in Chrome and Safari) and doesn't prompt for logins or show up when I right click on a login field. The little key is in the menu bar, but when I click on something in it, nothing happens.

I've installed the extension on Chrome and Safari and both of those work fine.
I'm using version 28 of Firefox, which seems to be the latest stable version.
I'm using OS 10.9.2
I'm using 1Password extension 4.1.0
I've restarted both Firefox and my computer.
The "Automatically ask to save new logins" is checked in the 1password preferences.

I'm at a loss.

Good day - have the same problem.

After upgrading from 1pw 3 to 4 (Version 4.2.2 (422001)) and using Firefox as browser (28), I keep getting the window as attached.
1PW mini is working and I have done as suggested in the help window, asking me to ...

    1. Ensure 1Password version 4 is installed. Prior versions do not support this extension.
      1. Ensure you can open the main 1Password application and have created your database. Verify you can unlock 1Password with your Master Password.
      2. Try to manually start 1Password mini by launching 1Password. Mac OS X users should also open 1Password > Preferences, go to the General tab, and ensure the Keep 1Password Helper running and Show Helper icon in menubar checkboxes are enabled.

Am using OSX 10.9.2 - I have installed LastPass in the meantime. at least that is working.
Would like to stay with and keep recommending 1PW, but ...?

    regards Manfredo

    Hi @starfive and @Manfredo52‌

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the browser extension right now. Could you please send us a Diagnostics Report?

    http://learn.agilebits.com/1Password4/diagnostic-report.html

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@ agilebits .com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    Hi @starfive and @Manfredo52‌,

We've received a Diagnostics Report from each of you, thanks for sending that in! Someone from our team will be responding to you directly via email so that we're not getting things mixed up between here and there. :)

Okay, so starfive and Manfredo52 will find out what to do, but no one else will...? I have exactly the same problem; the only difference between me and starfive is that I'm running MacOS 10.9.2. I am running FireFox 28 and have followed the instructions to install the 1Password extension in FireFox. I have 1Password 4 newly installed, version 4.2.2 (422001). What I observe is that after installing the extension for FF, when I actually check in FireFox's Add-ons Manager to see what extensions I have in FF, it turns out that what was actually loaded was 1Password 3.9.20. That seems like a mistake -- but not of my making. I've sent in a Diagnostics Report -- I hope it helps.

    Hi @jimajpa6,

I'm sorry that 1Password's Firefox extension isn't cooperating for you. Please give this a try:

    • Open Firefox and remove version 3.9.20 of the extension
    • Restart Firefox
    • Open the 1Password Extension page for 1Password 4 and install the extension

    Does that make any difference?

I haven't spotted your Diagnostics Report yet but will keep looking. Did you send it from the same email address that you're registered with on this forum? Update: found it! :)

    Hi Oversoul,

Thanks very much. Your link to the 1Password 4 extension got me to the right place, and now that I have downloaded and installed the correct extension, everything is fine.

With FF now working, I went ahead to do Chrome, and immediately upon opening Chrome, a 1Password4 window opened to invite me to install the extension. This reminded me that the same had happened with Safari --> but now in thinking back, it seems that this did NOT happen with FireFox. Thus with FireFox I went out looking for the extension myself; what came up was the 1Password3 version.

I googled around a bit more just now to see why I didn't come up with the right link to download the 1Password 4 extension for FF, and in the first page of google links (who looks beyond the first page?!) everything for FF is 1PW3, not 1PW4; there is a blog link however, http://blog.agilebits.com/category/1password/1password-extension/ , which is dated March 27th (ie 2 weeks ago) that says the FF version is "coming soon".

Anyway, everything is fine now, at least for me...

thanks again for your help (on a Sunday evening, no less)

    Jim

You're very much welcome, Jim! :)

As you've discovered, Google searches can still return results for 1Password 3 before 1Password 4 although 1Password extension now favors the latter.

I've made some more notes about this in our tracker.

Our learn.agilebits.com documentation, etc. pages are newer; help.agilebits.com pages are older.

there is a blog link however, http://blog.agilebits.com/category/1password/1password-extension/ , which is dated March 27th (ie 2 weeks ago) that says the FF version is "coming soon".

Soon, a year ago: Posted on Mar 27, 2013 :)
