Data Unavailable

Just installed 1Password 4 on my Mac and iPad. I've created passwords for a couple of sites on my Mac and then apparently successfully synched with iCloud. However, when I open my iPad app and choose 'Sync using iCloud', I'm told that 'No data found on iCloud'.

Am I doing something wrong?

Also, I then attempted to sync with Dropbox but I can't seem to find any info about the vault I'm expected to identify as part of that process. What vault am I using? Where is it stored? Where is it surfaced in the product? Your Web info also doesn't match the design of what I just installed.....not very comforting for a brand new customer.

Any and all help appreciated.....

TIA,
David

    Hi David ( @drschwartz‌ )

I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble getting set up here, and I'd be happy to help get you sorted out. Now, would you prefer to use iCloud, or Dropbox?

I'm told that 'No data found on iCloud'.

To get iCloud up and running, the first things we want to double-check is this:

    • Are you logged in with the same iCloud account on all computers and devices? (If you have somehow collected several accounts, like me, this could be where the trouble is coming in.)
    • Ensure that Documents and Data is enabled everywhere.

It is also important to give iCloud 20 minutes or so to get the data synced up: with Dropbox we're able to directly initiate a sync, but iCloud sync happens on its own schedule, so you may not see updates immediately.

    What vault am I using?

I am so sorry for the confusion with Dropbox here. Our developers are working on using clearer language on this screen - we've heard several users report the same trouble.

If you do not already have data stored in Dropbox when you reach this screen, you want to click the 'choose vault' button and choose the location in Dropbox that you will sync your vault to.

    Where is it stored?

In 1Password 4, your data is always stored in a default location within the /Library. When you choose to sync, 1Password will make a copy of this data and store it in the appropriate location.

I hope this helps, but we're here if you have any further questions!

I appear to be accessing the same iCloud account on all devices with the proper settings (I've had to change nothing since I posted this). I was able to sync using dropbox, thx. What are the relative advantages of using iCoud and Dropbox?

    Hi @drschwartz‌,

Both iCloud and Dropbox are great choices. There isn't one that is necessarily better than the other by a single definition. I prefer iCloud, but the choice is yours. iCloud is a bit faster, but Dropbox gives you cross-platfrom support and access to features like 1PasswordAnywhere.
