Synced Dropbox file still wanting old master passphrase

I'm using Dropbox to sync my 1Password data across multiple devices (2 Mac laptops, a Windows desktop, and an iPhone).

I changed my master passphrase on one of the Macs, and it was quickly reflected appropriately on the iPhone. HOWEVER, the other Mac still wants the old password (and offers up the old password hint).

My first thought was that Dropbox was still showing an older file, BUT, when I do decrypt the file with the old passphrase, it correctly shows passwords that have been added since the passphrase change. (Which shouldn't be possible, right? If it was a file that was encrypted with the older passphrase, it shouldn't contain newer data.)

See this detailed post for the reason the master password change is not synchronising between your Macs.

Thanks for the link, Stephen! Sorry to dredge up an old, known issue.

Don't worry about dredging up old issues. It's not easy to ferret out nuggets of past information - there's such a lot of it! Happy to have helped, anyway.

Oddly enough, my Windows machine seems to have picked up the newer passphrase without intervention from me. Puzzling! But at least everything is in order now, and I don't anticipate changing my passphrase again.

    Hi Shane,

I'm glad to hear that everything is in order now! The issue with a master password change not being synced only applies to 1Password 4 for Mac, so what you experienced can be expected.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always here to help! :)
