"Connecting ..." - message in Safari and Chrome plug-ins never connect

I just installed 1Password for Mac and the extensions for Safari and Chrome. I am able to enter my Master Password into the main 1Password application with no problem. Unfortunately when I try to use the Safari and Chrome extensions they both give me the "Connecting ..." message and never connect. I have restarted my computer and still no luck. Help! First time frustrated customer.

    You have installed the version 4 extensions haven't you, not the version 3 extensions? If not, remove the old extensions then go to 1P4 > Install browser extensions and install the version 4 extensions.
