iCloud sync reset?

I forgot my master password and with assistance from AgileBits, I was able to start from scratch with a new 1Password account on my Mac. However, my iCloud account remembers the old account, and as a result, so does my iPhone. How do I reset what's in iCloud and/or replace it with my new account?

    Hi @RachelD,

    Please give this a try:

    • On your iPhone, please delete 1Password for iOS.

    • On the Mac, open 1Password 4 for Mac, and click the 1Password menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and click Change syncing.

    • Check the box to remove the data from iCloud and confirm that you want to disable sync.

    • Open your Mac's System Preferences, click iCloud, then Manage. Try to find 1Password on the list, then click Delete All. If 1Password is not listed, that's fine too.

    • On the Mac, go back to 1Password's Sync preferences, and enable iCloud sync.

    • Wait a few minutes to give iCloud time to run the initial sync to all devices.

    • Re-download the iOS app, then open the app and re-enable iCloud sync.

Please let me know if that helps! :)

I got stuck between these two steps:

Open your Mac's System Preferences, click iCloud, then Manage. Try to find 1Password on the list, then click Delete All. If 1Password is not listed, that's fine too.
On the Mac, go back to 1Password's Sync preferences, and enable iCloud sync.

When I check the box to enable iCloud sync, it sends me to my iCloud account management in System Preferences. I check the box for my Keychain (which is where 1Password syncing appears to be stored). But when I go back to 1Password's preferences, it still tells me that iCloud syncing is not available.

  • Sorry for the delayed response!

If you're still having trouble, could you please email us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac, along with a link to this discussion, to: support+forum@agilebits.com

A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the report would also be helpful. Thanks in advance!

When I check the box to enable iCloud sync, it sends me to my iCloud account management in System Preferences. I check the box for my >Keychain (which is where 1Password syncing appears to be stored).

1Password data is not in the keychain section, but the Documents and Data section. Documents and Data must be checked for iCloud syncing to work.

@JasperP: There must have been a delayed recognition by my computer that I had turned on iCloud sync because my 1Password application is now permitting me to sync with iCloud without doing anything different. Thanks for your help!

    Hi @RachelD,

On behalf of @JasperP, thanks so much for letting us know that you're all sorted out! Unfortunately, iCloud sync happens on Apple's schedule and we are not able to directly initiate a sync as we are with Dropbox, so sometimes a bit of patience is required here.

I'm glad things are working for you now, we're here if you have any further questions!
