I recently upgraded from the try-version of 1password to a licensed version. I bought the program in Apple Store which might have proved to be a misstake since it installed a new verison of the program. I thus had to two versions of 1password. I threw away the old try-version but now i I have a problem. When I start my new paid-version it says "1Password can't connect to 1Password mini". Probably there has been som mix up between the two versions. What should I do? Luckily I printed all my passwords so I can start from scratch if need be.

Go first here which, in spite of relating to the beta version, will tell you how properly to remove the AgileBits store version. Note particularly the section I deleted the beta and installed the release version, now I’m seeing issues.

If that doesn't properly resolve the issue for you there is guidance about starting over here—but if you have to do that do it only after you've gone through the first link and properly deleted the AgileBits store version.

Post back if you still have problems.

Sorry, doesn't help ... Could it have something to do with that I downloaded the try-version from your site and place in the a folder My-applications in my user hierarchy whereas the version I bought from AppStore was placed in the folder Applications? So maybe there are files laying around in two places?

Yes, that might well cause difficulty in applying the suggested solution. I suggest you await the arrival of an AgileBits expert riding to the rescue. I'm merely a dabbling user!

Thanks anyway :-) I hope the cavalry will arrive soon.

  • Hi @gawain,

Could you please email us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac, along with a link to this discussion, to: support+forum@agilebits.com

A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the report would also be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Well, I downloaded the program again from your site and installed in a folder on my user (not in the Applications folder). It is working like a charm :-) A report has been generated and sent to you just now.

Perhaps the easiest solution is that I delete the program I downloaded from Apple store and enter a license key in my new download from your site.

  • Hi @gawain,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get the webstore version of 1Password working! It should automatically detect that you had the Mac App Store version installed, and register itself - no need for a license key :)

Let us know if you run into any more trouble!

Well, it didn't work that way. I must have been unclear. The new download didn't find the key. I had to erase everything and start all over. I have sent a support mail with my App Store receipt. Hopefull I can "trade" this for a real license and keep out of App Store.

  • Hi @gawain,

It looks like we were able to get you all set up with your license key through email! If there is anything else we can help with, please let us know!
