Disabling Watchtower CRASHES the Mac App!

I personally do not want to use this feature and now I regret ever turning it on since it crashes the app. Seems like a major hassle to me.
No security measures are foolproof and I do not want this on. How do I turn it off without crashing the app? Thanks

This does not happen for me, so I think you'd better provide details of your system (OS X version, 1P4 version) and exactly what you do to reproduce the crash.

If I go to 1P4 > Preferences > Watchtower and un-check Enable 1Password Watchtower there is no crash. Further, if I then try to click on Watchtower in SECURITY AUDIT it merely tells me to enable the Watchtower service. Again there is no crash. I can also reverse the entire procedure without any crash. I'm using 1P4 4.4 and OS X 10.9.2.

Did you submit the crash report to AgileBits? (You should have been prompted to do that.)

(By the way, I don't for a moment doubt what you say—I just can't reproduce it here! :) )

I did send the crash report. I am using the latest version of Mavericks as of TODAY - 10.9.2 May 2, 2014. I have 1Password 4.4 (build 440001) fresh off Mac App Store as of May 1st, 2014. I have a late 2013 MBP Retina with a completely fresh install of Mavericks. Thanks

That's helpful, thanks—and odd, because it's what I'm running (except I'm not using the Mac App Store version of 1P4). I'm sure someone will come along soon with some help—and I usually find responses to crash reports are reasonably quick.

Sorry that at the moment I have no more ideas which might help, but thanks for giving the additional information.

I just wanted to let you know I solved this and another problem by reinstalling the app according to instructions on another thread. I backed up my database BEFORE doing this as anyone else who might try this sort of thing SHOULD do also. I don't want to encourage folks to do this though unless they are certain their database is backup up (the other problem was Rich Icons not working after I deselected and reselected it in Preferences).

Thanks so much for helping though!

I'm so glad it's sorted. There have been some references to preferences not sticking (and that possibly being linked to a permissions problem) but, for the life of me, I can't find the threads now, sorry! However, I wonder if your problems might have been linked to that.
