iCloud syncing issue

Hello,

I've purchased 1Password for iOS a while ago and it's working like a charm. All devices are always synced using iCloud. In order to add more passwords more comfortably I´ve purchased the Mac OS version for Mavericks as well. Unfortunately it's not syncing or not syncing correctly. I've updated three Macs to the latest version available, but nothing added or deleted on one machine is synced with the other Macs nor the iOS devices. I did everything that could be helpful like turning off syncing, deleting vaults and starting from scratch. All without any success. This is very frustrating as I spent 45EUR for a solution not working for me.

Could somebody please advice what to do to get this working?

    Hi @jg2014,

I'd be happy to help get things straightened out here. Now, there are a few very basic things that we need to check before we get into the more detailed troubleshooting:

    • Please ensure that you are logged in with the same iCloud account on all computers and devices. (If you're like me and have somehow collected several, this could be where things are getting tangled!)
    • Please ensure that 'Documents and Data' is enabled for iCloud on all devices.

Now, if you're set up correctly here, we're going to need to take a closer look at your system to determine where things got snagged up. Could you please send us a Diagnostics Report?

    http://learn2.agilebits.com/1Password4/diagnostic-report.html

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@ agilebits .com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

A short note here once you've sent the Report in will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    Megan,

thanks for your response and offer to look into this. I've created and reviewed the report and decided not to share this with you. There are many information that I'm not willing/allowed to share with any third parties. If having this report is mandatory for you to continue troubleshooting, we are done here unfortunately. If you accept a blackened report I'm willing to share.

  • Hi @jg2014,

We try not to include any data in the report that would be considered private or confidential, but that's fine if you won't to send the entire report to us. If you want to remove any data you consider private before sending, that would be great.

Before sending the partial report, you could try this:

    • On your iOS devices, open 1Password 4 for iOS, tap Settings > Sync, and toggle iCloud to OFF.

    • On the Mac, open 1Password 4 for Mac, and click the 1Password menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and click Change syncing.

    • Check the box to remove the data from iCloud and confirm that you want to disable sync.

    • Reboot the Mac and iOS devices.

    • On the Mac, go back to the Sync preferences, and enable iCloud.

    • Wait about 20 minutes to give iCloud time to run the initial sync to all devices.

    • Go back into the iOS app and re-enable iCloud sync.

    Jasper,

thanks for the step-by-step drivethru. I've decided to not invest more time into fixing this issue. I'm pretty sure that iCloud is to blame here and not you. I've switched back to Dropbox that was working for me perfectly in the past. And it's working like a charm again. All our iOS devices and Macs are now perfectly synced. What I would like to have in the future is 1Password supporting more cloud providers (like Strato or Deutsche Telekom) to have my vaults stored on Germany based servers. Do you intend to expand the list of supported clouds in the future?

  • Hi @jg2014,

I'm glad to hear that switching to Dropbox has solved the issues.

We're looking into adding more sync options in the future. Thanks for the feedback!
