Master Password Update/Revision will not work on Mac Pro

I updated my Master Password by adding a SINGLE numeric character to the previous version (simply stated: Previous PW plus one (1) new character.
I am now UNABLE to log in to my account on my MacBook Pro. I tried the original PW. I have tried the new PW. I have tried every option of the 1 new character that I can. No Success.

Note: I am still able to log in to 1 Password from both my iPhone and iPad.

In advance, any assistance in path forward to allow my 1 Password login from my MacBook Pro is much appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi @jimmyewilliamswsk‌,

That's strange, have you try pressing the shift key in case the alternative character was entered?

If you still can't get back in, you'll need to restore from an early backup that was created before you changed the master password. There is no way to reset the master password nor a backdoor in the app to let us reset this.

To get back in, open the main 1Password app on your Mac, go straight to the File Menu > Restore and select the backup that was created before the master password change.

After that, you should be able to unlock the app with the original master password.

Yes, I even tried the shift key option. No luck.
I will try your recommendation & let you know how it worked out. Tks.

  • No problem, let us know how it turns out.

Task Complete. I have restored an earlier backup and all is well. Thanks for your guidance/assistance.

  • On behalf of Mike, you're welcome. Please let us know if you have any other questions! :)
