I cannot see your screen captures, but I wonder if this article would help you. From what I can tell, it sounds like you are dealing with a multipage login. Sorry if this isn't helpful.

(It's exasperating to me that the forum will allow direct inclusion of screen shots, but that they are too small to be of much use.)

    Hi @ronen,

Unfortunately, 1Password cannot fill in this Login completely automatically for you. This is because the pop-up log in screen isn't visible to 1Password until you click the 'Log In' button.

In situations like this, you have two options:

    • Search the site for an alternate log in page that does not have a pop-up.
    • Visit the site manually, then use ⌘\ to fill your details in once you've clicked the 'Log In' button.

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you here, but please do let me know if you have any further questions!

    You're welcome, @ronen.

I've edited your post so it would display larger inserted images, e.g.:

I hope that workaround helps you more than the other one, @hawkmoth. :)

@sjk - So what's up with those tiny and useless (to me at least) image attachments? Can official support folks enlarge them to be useful to them? They can't help other users. Can they?

    Hi @hawkmoth,

We recently added the 'attach a file' option to the forums, to make it easier for users to send us screenshots without having to upload to an online service. I can right click on the image and view it in a new tab - are you only able to view them inline?

@Megan - yes I can open them in a new tab, as you describe, but they are the same size as the in-line version. Same if I open in a new window or save to downloads.

    Hi @hawkmoth,

Darn, you're right. We've confirmed this here. It seems that image downloads are disabled for members. We're working on getting this fixed for you and all other members, but we need to ensure that certain file types remain restricted (such as .zip and .html, in case a user uploads a Diagnostic Report.)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we'll have it fixed as soon as possible!

    Hi @hawkmoth,

So what's up with those tiny and useless (to me at least) image attachments?

At the moment, images can be inserted into the post after uploading to be viewable at full size. We're working on getting this properly fixed, as @Megan mentioned, so that workaround isn't necessary. In the mean time it can still be more convenient to directly upload images here instead of using some other service.

That will make a big difference! @sjk - Yes, convenient for the uploader perhaps, but nearly useless for a reader who has no way to enlarge them to useable size. I'll look forward the the change.

At the moment, images can be inserted into the post after uploading to be viewable at full size.

    By whom?

Aren't you seeing full size inline images in the first post now, @hawmoth? Seems there's another bug that prevents it; try this link instead:

Are you having trouble using Insert Image after uploading an image, @hawkmoth? This is an inserted inline image:

@sjk - Yes, I can see the full size image in post #1 of this thread, but only since you did something to enlarge it (as you said, edited it) and then pointed me to look at it again in your post #5. It's quite reasonable in size now, but it wasn't when first posted. Can an ordinary user ensure that the posted image will be like you made them in Post #1?

I have never tried to use the forum's direct method to post images here, because I've never seen one posted that way by anyone else that I could see well enough to understand what it illustrated. All too tiny and no way for me to enlarge it. So to me, it was pointless. I understand from @Megan's post #9 that I'm not crazy and that something needs to be done on your end before an ordinary user will be able to enlarge the posts to the point of visibility.

Skitch and Evernote have been good enough for me before, but I'll likely begin to use your own upload method once it gets fixed. My main point for myself only is that when a user can't see posted images, users are prevent from helping each other.

I hate doing this, but there isn't a sensible way to test this on a dummy forum. I'm posting a screenshot of the AgileBits forum by direct attachment to see what I can see afterwards. This thread is already messed up by this side discussion, so one more post shouldn't make it (much) worse.

Here is a screen capture of my post above, processed by Skitch and hosted by Evernote:

    Hi @hawkmoth,

Here's @JasperP's explanation of Insert Image usage:

Also, when attaching an image to your post, you can use the Insert Image option to add an <img> tag so the full size image will be displayed inline:

You need to select Insert Image after uploading with Attach a file or only its thumbnail will be displayed. Let us know if that Insert Image option is missing for you and we'll investigate why. Thanks!

OK, here is another attempt with a comment to follow.

As you see, the thumbnail, which is completely useless, is also retained.

@sjk - So, that really arcane option works to publish an image big enough to see. But if you look at all the attachments that have been posted by the direct attachment method, I don't think you will find many that took advantage of that option to incorporate the image at a reasonable size after uploading it. Or at the very least, you will find many illegible examples. Is there a way to make this process more apparent?

I will say that it's unusual and generous in my experience that you have begun to host images like this. Most forums won't.

    I'll stop griping now. :)

@hawkmoth‌ @sjk‌ this thread has been incredibly useful for me: I'd never have worked out how to insert a proper sized image not hosted by a third party without reading all this: thanks! I must say it does verge on the counter-intuitive though. :)

Thanks your feedback about this, guys,

Using Insert Image is a temporary workaround so uploaded images can be viewed full size without enabling downloading in general. It's not intended to be a permanent, required solution. Admittedly, I also didn't discover that option on my own. :)

Khad is talking with the forum folks to make this easier in the future.

I'm going to close this discussion now, with apologies to @ronen for hijacking his original issue with the unrelated subtopic. Feel free to start another whatever else comes up. :)
