Hi,

Been using 1Password for a while on my old Mac (no idea of version) now got a new Mac installed latest version from website.

When I load the software its asking me about backups and asking me where is my data etc... I have no idea where my data is I thought that was the softwares job, not mine.

What do I do now ?

Dave

  • Hi Dave,

Did you previously sync your data? If so, did you use iCloud or Dropbox?

Do you still have access to your old Mac?

Thanks in advance for the additional info! :)

    Sorry been away.

I still have my old Mac, so can get into my account on that if need be.

Never synced as far as I know unless it does it for you (didn't know about that you could sync).

Did you, or do you plan to, use the OS X migration assistant to move software and data over from you old Mac to the new one? If so, your 1Password installation and data would come over automatically. If you prefer to start fresh and instal your applications from scratch, this question is not relevant. And there certainly are advocates for thanking the fresh-start approach.

    Hi Dave,

We'll need to take a closer look at your system here to determine where things are getting tangled up. Could you please send us a Diagnostics Report from the old Mac? (This will allow us to locate your datafile.)

    http://learn2.agilebits.com/1Password4/diagnostic-report.html

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@ agilebits .com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

A short note here once you've sent the Report in will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for sending that Report in! I took a quick look in our system, but I was unable to find an email from the address you attached to your forum account. If you could send me a private message with the address that you used to send in the Report, I'd be happy to track it down and ensure that it gets answered quickly. :)

Sent you a PM with the email address, never thought to be honest but yeah it's my personal domain it was sent from.

    Hi Dave,

As I mentioned in my private message to you, your email has been received, and someone from our team is already on the case. :) We'll continue the conversation directly via email so that things don't get tangled up between here and there.
