What on earth is Whitehat Aviator Browser (https://www.whitehatsec.com/aviator/)?

I just received a new update for 1Password (for Mac) and I saw that support for the browser has been added.

I've never heard of the browser before though. Is it safe?

    Well, there's information on the page to which you linked and a quick search reveals a number of reviews with additional information including among others, for example, this one.
