Can you sync iOS device over wired connection?

I'd like to sync my iOS devices over a wired connection, at least the first time after changing the wifi network password. Typing the 15+ character wifi password on an iOS device is a pain...it would be much easier to copy/past after a wired sync. Any ideas?
