Syncing problems

I've been using Dropbox to sync 1Password between my Mac, iPhone and iPad for years but this morning I noticed that the iPad and iPhone weren't up to date and have not been syncing. I decided that this might be a good time to switch to iCloud but now I've made a mess. Somehow 1Password took some of my newest passwords and put them under "previously used passwords" with old dates. At least I was able to retrieve them and fix the ones I noticed! I think it merged a file in iCloud with my file...I don't know. Now I'm back to Dropbox but it still isn't syncing. How can I sync...either iCloud or Dropbox...without changing my file? I cannot see a data file in iCloud and Dropbox has an older file. I hope this make sense.

I have similar issues to chobe2. I also found that my dropbox sync wasn't working across devices so thought i should move away from dropbox to icloud for syncing. The copy of my agilekeychain in dropbox that i can access via my macbook is the right one. I made a copy of it(per some instuctions on a website..). then i tried to switch to icloud and got totally muddled up. I got messages asking if i wanted to merge this data with my primary data etc... I didn't merge anything, which i think is good. Anyway, if i could get some instructions on how to get my 2 ipads, my iphone and my laptop to sync via icloud using the updated agilekeychain that is currently available via my laptop in my dropbox folder i would much appreciate it.

I think I want to stick with Dropbox but 1Password on my Mac doesn't seem to be syncing. When I make a change in 1Password, the modification date on the file in Dropbox does not reflect it. How can I make sure it's syncing?

  • Hi guys,

Sorry to hear about the trouble! As long as all of your data is present on at least one Mac, please try completely re-setting Dropbox sync:

    • On your iOS device(s), open 1Password 4 for iOS, tap Settings > Sync > Sync Service, then Disable Sync.

    • On your Mac(s), open 1Password 4 for Mac, and click the 1Password 4 menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and then Change syncing.

      • Check the box to remove the data from Dropbox and confirm that you want to disable sync.
    • Check your Dropbox folder and delete any other 1Password folders or files that the remove data checkbox did not take care of.

    • Restart all your devices.

    • On your Mac, go back to the Sync preferences, and click Dropbox. Click Choose vault, then navigate to your Dropbox folder and select Open. This will regenerate a 1Password folder in Dropbox, and that will contain a new 1Password.agilekeychain file.

    • Allow Dropbox to fully sync.

    • Go back to any other Macs and iOS devices and re-enable Dropbox sync.

Let me know if that helps! :)

Thank you JasperP. That worked to update my files on my devices to match what's in my Dropbox file...I had to delete my iPhone app and then reinstall it to get it to sync. But now I'm right back where I started - nothing is syncing. When I make changes to 1Password on my computer, Dropbox starts syncing immediately but when I view my account on the website, the file still shows an old modified date and the changes are not reflected on my iPhone or iPad. Dropbox is working perfectly for other files...files added or deleted can be seen on my devices almost immediately. Any ideas?

    Hi @chobe2,

So we can investigate further, could you please email us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac, along with your forum username and a link to this discussion, to: support+forum@agilebits.com

A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the report would also be helpful. Thanks in advance!
