Does anyone know if the family plan allows 5 different users to have there own 1password software on their computers or will all family members share the same passwords?

The family licence most certainly allows all family members to have their own version of 1P4 running on their computers, with their own passwords. To make it quite clear, there's no requirement for any passwords to be shared under that licence. There's a useful page about 1P4 licences here.
