1Password unlock animation slow

Not sure if this is a bug or what, but it just happened a minute ago for me and once about a week or two ago. I type in my master password, and the animation where it unlocks the vault takes a few seconds to start and when it does start it opens very slowly. What could be causing this? Is this a bug?

Just wanted to bring this to your attention. :)

    Hi @ScarySulley‌

Thanks for letting us know about this! I haven't seen anything similar in a while now (although I do recall seeing this in earlier versions), so I'd love to get a bit more detail to track things down.

    • What version number of 1Password are you currently using?
    • And just to cover all my bases, what's your operating version number?
    • Do you notice this behaviour after any particular action (ex: when first loading 1Password or waking the computer from sleep)?

The more detail you can provide, the more likely we'll be able to recreate it, which is the first step in getting it solved! :)

    Hi @Megan‌

    1) Running 1Password 4.4.1 (haven't seen it on my PC yet)

    2) Running OS X 10.9.3

    3) Today it happened after woke my Mac from sleep. The first time I don't remember.

    Hope that helps! :)

  • Hi @ScarySulley,

This may actually be caused by an "Easter Egg" of sort. If you hold down the Shift key when you unlock 1Password, the unlock animation is slowed down. Could you please try entering your master password and click the unlock button while holding down the Shift key? Is that what you saw before?

    Hi @JasperP‌

Ahhh! That's what it is! I forgot OS X slows down animations when you hold down Shift. I remember doing that back in the days of Expose (before it was Mission Control). I guess it's not a bug.

    Thanks!

  • You're welcome! Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help! :)

I was about to post a new issue before I found this. Could you add it to your documentation?

I can certainly suggest it although just to clarify this isn't an Easter egg of our design but Apple. It works in a lot of places e.g. minimising a Finder window or indeed any window.
