Vault Mismatch
I have 1Password for Mac (OS X Mavericks on MacBook Air) and 1Password for iOS (iOS 7 on iPhone 4). Both used to be synced with Dropbox, but I suddenly noticed that the data on my iOS app is out of date, and then I discovered that it is no longer syncing to Dropbox. When I manually try to get it to sync with Dropbox, I get an error saying "Vault Mismatch" and it gives me two options: Cancel or Merge.
Should I merge? I'm thinking it might be better to delete 1Password for iOS and install it from scratch with Dropbox. Any suggestions? Thanks very much in advance!

Hi @parekh,
This warning exists in case you have multiple vaults stored in Dropbox, so you don't accidentally merge two completely different vaults together.
So, when you get the Vault Mismatch warning, please tap More Info. This will show details about the differences between the vaults. If the vault in Dropbox mostly matches the local vault (probably the most recent items will be the only difference), then you can tap Merge These Vaults Anyway.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi @JasperP
You're right --- the Dropbox vault mostly (97.6%) matches the local iOS vault, with the most recent items being the only real difference. But I'm just not sure what ``merge'' means and how it deals with cases of conflict (for example if there is a conflict between the local vault and the Dropbox vault, what happens?). To avoid these complications, I was wondering if it might be simpler to just reinstall 1Password from scratch on my iOS device, rather than merging. Any advice on this?
Thanks,

Well so much for 1P handling conflicts well. Your advice to sync anyway over a Vault Mismatch just wiped out the last three months worth of 1P additions and updates for me.
I noticed neither of my iOS devices had synced in a while so I came here to figure out how to debug it. The agilekeychain on my Mac's dropbox was more recent and more complete, so I got a Vault Mismatch on the idevices. So, per your recommendation here, I synced anyway. Instead of updating the devices to the more current version, it erased the extra data from the more current agilekeychain. Currently trying to figure out if I can revert this somehow...

Found the Restore options in the Backups area of Prefs. That looks like it might restore the missing data. Still, an awkward and counterintuitive error in the way the two devices synced up. Irritating.

Hi @Glenallen,
I'm glad to hear you were able to find the backup/restore option which should help here.
For anyone else reading, please do check with us regarding your specific situation before selecting the "merge anyway" option to disregard the warning. At a minimum we normally recommend making a manual backup of each device prior to forcing the merge.
Thanks.
Ben
